Saturday Showcase

Each Saturday, I host what I like to call Saturday Showcase. A little bit of weekend fun for authors, aspiring writers and artists of all mediums to showcase and promote their work.

Writers

HOW IT WORKS?
  • Choose a prompt from the list below.
  • Write a short story. It can be as long or as short as you like. (I’m happy to do a two part post if it’s REALLY long)
  • Provide a short Bio about yourself.
  • Provide any links you wish to be attached to the post. Do you have a book published? Blog? Social Media profiles? Fan Fiction? Anything you want to include.
  • Send your story and information either by contacting me through Facebook or my Blog. Once I have written up your post, I will contact you with a date the post will go live.
  • NB. All stories written remain YOURS and you are free to post and share as you like, although if you would mind waiting until the blog post goes live that would be great. 🙂
WRITING PROMPTS
  • Use the first line of a nursery rhyme as the first line of a dark narrative.
  • Write about the three things he could never tell her.
  • “You really have no clue who I am?” “You’d think the confused looks and blank stare would have answered that for you.”
  • “Small fire! I said set a small fire! This is not small!”
  • Create a story where your character is given a specific map of their future. Should they follow the direction they’re given? What happens if they don’t?
  • “It’s okay. You don’t have to love me.”
  • Sometimes memories are the worst form of torture.
  • The lights go out for five seconds. When they turn on again, you see a note stuck to your window. It says one word. “Run.”
  • “It’s your choice,” she shrugged. “You can continue with your worthless life or become someone who matters.”
  • As my story came to a close, I realised I was the villain all along.
  • The only word that came to mind was…
  • Two years ago, I swore I’d never come back here again.
  • Your antagonist makes a promise that can’t be broken until…
  • “Come with me,” he said, knowing the answer would be no. After a moment, however, she said, “come with me instead.
  • “So that’s what you are?” he whispered in awe.
  • They sent me because I don’t exist.
  • “Can I kill him?” “No” “Just a little bit?”
  • He finished speaking, and she was silent for a long time.
  • “So what’s you plan?” “My plan was to follow your plan!”
  • “There’s something you should know, in case I don’t come back.”
  • It is cunning, it is brave, it is brutal, it is relentless…and it is hunting us.
  • That is a terrible, horrible, incredibly foolish idea. Lets do it and see what happens.
  • You find a lantern that will lead you to wherever you want, but the closer you get, the heavier it becomes.
  • He smiled, and all I could think was, “Oh, shit.”
  • With one look in his eyes she told herself This is going to hurt when its over-
  • She showed up at his door, soaking wet and covered in glitter.
HAPPY WRITING!!!
