“His eyes settled on her…piercing green embers of flame that revealed the ferocity of his pain and passion, yet still shrouded him under veils of ever deepening mystery that made every ounce of her ache to unravel him.”
Tegan Lockwood’s dreams were dead, sacrificed on the noble altar of duty before they ever had a chance to live. Her entire existence was disappearing into the abyss of apathy as she labored her days away keeping her family’s struggling business alive. There would be no emotion, no color, no beauty in her life. That is, until a mysterious visitor begins to draw her out of the darkness of her past towards something that will challenge the boundaries of her world, and unlock the most deeply held secrets of her heart.
Melody’s Key is a love story between two broken people who help make each other whole again.
Tegan Lockwood is a talented songwriter, with an acceptance to a prestigious university. Instead of taking her incredible talent, (seriously, songwriting, music and an artist) she opts to stay and work at her family’s struggling holiday resort. She is in limbo, no man’s land. She is not entirely miserable with the life she has chosen, but neither is she happy. She just exists, making the occasional outing with her friend Simon (I could totally have used a bit more Simon!) and keeping a horrific trauma to herself.
Mason is a burnt out pop-star, with a wild and reckless reputation, looking to take a time out from the spotlight. And Tegan hates him on site, due to the reputation that has preceded him. But Mason is no all he appears to be. Behinds he tabloid stories and high profile lifestyle, there is a gentle soul just tying make his way in the world as best he can.
The relationship between these two just progressed so organically and it was a beautiful thing to watch unfold. From that first initial encounter where Tegan realities he may not be everything the media says. To see both Tegan and Mason gradually open up about their traumatic pasts was both heartbreaking and breathtakingly beautiful.
Their love is slow to blossom, and isn’t without it’s ups and downs along the way, but if you like a happily ever after then you wont be disappointed. The ending is absolutely perfect.
Dallas Coryell himself is a singer/songwriter and some of the songs he wrote for the novel can actually be found on his YouTube channel. They are so beautiful to listen too. Check them out!
I read this book in two days and absolutely loved it! For anyone who loves romance I would definitely suggest taking a look at Melody’s Key. It’s just a beautiful read.
